arrogant incandescence

you conveniently mistake the gleam against my cheeks

as a reflection of your own light

a testament to your infectious radiance

rather than the residual glint from the quiet stream

of anxiety released when i'm finally alone

under your watch

i can't help but wonder

do you truly contain the power to warp light, skewing the colors only visible to me

or is it the glass itself that's shattered

scattering fragments of light

our painful moments existing only in the shadows

the rare joy all that remains

your false confidence -

arrogant incandescence

continue to make never ending assumptions about me

but how can you really see me

when you look down on me from all the way up there

do you really see me

taylor was right

disco is in

the roaring 70s are back

and maybe i'm just a mirrorball

you mistake yourself as my light

so generously gifting me the ability to glow

but in reality

i'm anxiously spinning out to please you

to give you something to look at

hoping that someone will just cut the music

allow me to rest

and just be

fixed little disco ball

turning slowly in the dark

for no one at all

at first glance, i looked at you. the galaxies held in the vastness in your eyes, the infinite universe you possessed in your smile...
